This week-long route gives first-time visitors the three sides of Korea most people come for — a big modern city, a quiet historical capital, and a relaxed coastal city — without a punishing pace. You spend three nights in Seoul, take the KTX south, see Gyeongju's UNESCO sites in a day, finish on the beaches and markets of Busan, and keep one flexible day for weather or rest.

How this route is built

Seoul and Busan sit at opposite ends of the KTX line, with Gyeongju roughly between them, so the geography does the planning for you. Base yourself in one hotel per city to avoid daily packing.

Days 1–3: Seoul

Use your first morning to set up: pick up a T-money card and install the apps you'll actually need. Spend the days on Gyeongbokgung and the surrounding palace district, the lanes of Bukchon and Insadong, and an evening in a livelier neighborhood. Full detail is in the Seoul 3-day itinerary.

Day 4: Gyeongju by KTX

Take a morning KTX toward Singyeongju station, drop bags, and see Bulguksa Temple, the royal tomb mounds at Daereungwon, and Cheomseongdae. Gyeongju rewards a slow walk; see the Gyeongju guide for what to prioritize in a single day.

Days 5–6: Busan

Continue south to Busan. Give one day to the coast — Haeundae, the cliff-side Haedong Yonggungsa, and the colorful Gamcheon Culture Village — and one to food, built around Jagalchi fish market and a Korean BBQ dinner. The Busan guide and the Busan 2-day itinerary break it down.

Day 7: Buffer and departure

Hold this day loosely. Use it to revisit a favorite spot, shop, or absorb a rainy day earlier in the trip. From Busan you can fly out of Gimhae, or take the KTX back to Seoul if you fly from Incheon.

Who this route suits — and who should adjust

It fits first-timers who want range over depth and are comfortable with trains. If you have only five days, drop Gyeongju and split your time between Seoul and Busan. If you want nature, trade the buffer day for Seoraksan or Jeju instead.
